Homage paid, to not only the Confederate war heroes, but also their horses.
Friday, April 25, 2008 started our "long goodbye" to Georgia. You know, all the places I want to take my kids before they forever leave the southern land they were born in. I completely realize that after a couple months in Minnesota, they probably will not remember much of Georgia. However, I will have pictures to prove not only did they live here....they experienced it. Note of course, that I am waiting until we are leaving to do many of these things for the first time

First on our litany of places to go and things to see, Stone Mountain Georgia. Only in Georgia can you see Confederate war heroes and their horses, carved for all eternity onto the side of a mountain. The carving is bigger than Mt. Rushmore and actually very breath taking.....this comes from a Southerner, of course.
After loading up 5 kids and car seats, 2 double strollers, 2 adults, and food/ drinks for all....we were off. My good friend Barbara (who knows when to bring me milkshakes before I even need them), and her three children went with us. I do believe that the bond between Alex, Maddie, Matt, Josh and Sam (as with all their friends) will stretch beyond the rugged miles between Minneapolis and Atlanta. And thanks to the Internet, I know that our families will be able to stay in touch!!
