A little this and a little that...

In the midst of the whole Jackson hernia saga...........

Sam got a new bike and learned how to pedal.

We hunted Easter eggs with Ga-Ga.

Ga-Ga kept Jackson while we went to church on Easter Sunday. Have I ever mentioned how wonderful my Mommy is? She flew up the day we went to the ER and stayed with us through the surgery and Easter. I couldn't have handled it without her!

Jackson turned 1 month old...

And he finally got a real bath complete with pictures.

And finally to leave you with some of my favorite pictures of Jackson recently.

Update on Jackson

Hello everyone-

Sorry I am so late in updating post surgery. Jackson had surgery on Thursday April 1 at 7:30am. He was in surgery for about 2 hours. He did have 2 hernias that needed repair. We spent the night on Thursday night and were sent home Friday.

I didn't realize until I typed this that he had surgery on April's Fool Day.....if only it had been an April Fools joke.

We wanted to thank everyone for their prayers for us during this time. I could feel the peace that only comes from the Holy Spirit surrounding us the day of the surgery. How else could I have handed over my 3 week old baby to the nurse in blue scrubs? I didn't even cry. Then again, I think my break down the night before saved me the public humiliation of being a blubbering mess.

I was convinced that Jackson had to have a bath the night before his surgery. I couldn't take him to the hospital without having had a bath. We had been slacker parents and hadn't given him a "real" bath yet. Plenty of sponge baths, but not a "real" one. Then again, we couldn't let him cry from the previous Saturday until surgery for fear that the hernia wouldn't retract and we would end up with emergency surgery. But, the night before he went in I HAD to give him a "real" bath....I couldn't have something happen without Jackson having received a "real" bath. My mom and Wade thought I was crazy, but I was adamant....and he received his bath. Of course it was too quick to even get a picture since we had to do it so fast so he wouldn't cry. After that I retreated to my room for a full out sobbing cry complete with the snubs.

I am happy to report that Jackson is making a full recovery. His stitches on the inside to his abdomen sac will absorb on their own. His outer incision is covered with a glue that will come off on it's own. He incisions look better and better with each passing day and the swelling from where the intestines were pulled out of his scrotum is all but gone.

That being said, we have had nap and sleep boot camp this past week. Jackson had to learn to fall asleep without someone (namely his mama) holding him. I love to hold and snuggle him, but good grief a girl has to sleep sometime! He is currently only waking once during the night to eat and is taking MUCH better naps (knock on wood) during the day.

Here is a picture of my baby when were in the ER and his hernia wasn't retracting...he looks so pitiful.

And here he is once he awoke after surgery....a much happier and hungry baby. See the hand in motion? He was waving for me to put the phone (which I used to take the picture) down so I could feed him. I wanted a picture of him awake to send to eagerly awaiting grandparents so they could see he was okay.
